Swiss BebbiCell AG and Union Vector Technologies Sdn Bhd jointly tendered through IceCell ehf for a GSM 1800 license in Iceland. On June 28, Icecell ehf was awarded the license for the operation of the newest mobile GSM network in Iceland.

"Our exciting new price plans will help revolutionize the Icelandic mobile market making mobile communication much more affordable to end users. The enhancement in end user services we can provide to IceCell will also provide our customers with a feature rich mobile experience", said Harald Lang, CTO of Union Vector.

Through its involvement with Icecell the company will be able to extend its product portfolio greatly to include voice and data communication services on an international scale.
